Oklahoma Everything You Need to Know
Oklahoma Laws
- Oklahoma’s medical program remains fully legal under State Question 788 (2018) and is governed by Title 63 of the Oklahoma Statutes, regulated by the OMMA.
- It remains classified as Schedule I at the federal level, but licensed patients can legally possess state-approved quantities.
- Without a valid medical card, possession of even small amounts can result in misdemeanor charges, including up to 6 months in jail and a $1,000 fine.
- With a card, driving under the influence remains a strict zero-tolerance offense; any detectable active compound may result in DUI penalties.
- OMMA license holders must comply with commercial rules (packaging, labeling, testing, records), per legislative updates in 2025.
Oklahoma Reform Timeline

- Introduced protections: small-scale unlicensed possession (up to 1.5 oz) for those stating medical need is a misdemeanor with a fine only.
2023 – Adult-use defeated
- SQ 820 (adult‑use initiative) fails, keeping Oklahoma’s framework strictly medical-based.
2024–2025 – Regulatory refinements
- New laws tighten controls: packaging rules, modified licenses & application fees, background checks, barcode/QR‑code labeling.
- Pre‑packaging mandate effective June 1, 2025: retail packages must be 0.5 g-3 oz, sealed and labeled per OMMA standards.
Late-2025
- Moratorium in place for qualifying new licensees until mid-2026 as part of supply adjustment discussions.
