Maine Possession Limits
Maine law allows substantial possession and cultivation limits for medical cannabis patients and their designated caregivers.
- Medical patients may possess up to 8 pounds of harvested cannabis.
- Recreational users (21+) are limited to 2.5 ounces of marijuana.
- Home cultivation limit is same for both medical patients and adult-users: up to 6 mature plants, 12 immature plants, and unlimited seedlings.
- Caregivers may cultivate up to 30 mature plants, 60 immature plants, and unlimited seedlings OR up to 500 square feet of mature plant canopy and 1,000 square feet of immature plant canopy.
- Patients may transfer up to 2.5 ounces to other patients without remuneration.
- Maine medical marijuana cards are valid for one year from the date of issuance and must be renewed annually through a licensed healthcare provider.
